Neil Lien built his career within the coveted world of Silicon Valley’s tech giants, working for both Meta and Apple. With a huge depth of expertise and a unique spark of creativity, he felt it was his mission to take all the experience built in the world’s peak tech enterprises and put it to the service of small & medium businesses. 

When we met Neil he had left corporate life and was one year into his up-and-running business. So we started building up the foundation with sales processes, pipeline psychology and concentrated visibility, marketing & sales efforts based only around the activities that brought the most ROI.

When experience isn’t the problem

It wasn’t for lack of trying or wanting; Neil had looked for sales and marketing events and support. It offered some frameworks, but little changed in practice. As most of our clients he came up against the same problem with a “prescribed” marketing tactic, funnel, or campaign:

As a result, sales conversations were still heavy, somewhat left up in the air, without a close. Referrals uncomfortable to ask for. While lead generation and marketing was disproportionate to the results it produced.

Getting clarity into the business

So we started by getting the foundation tight. Together, we worked on:

🔶 Refining the offer so it spoke directly to his real buyer: COOs and CFOs responsible for efficiency and scale
🔶 Value proposition, moving from abstract language to a clear result-driven message like “compressing 30 days of work into 30 minutes”
🔶 Putting a simple pipeline and sales process in place so that follow-up is easy to act on
🔶  A referral strategy that felt natural, aligned and easy to communicate
🔶 Replacing an expensive outreach approach with a more efficient tool and as a result a bonus saving of 1k / month to the business
🔶 Stress-testing real sales and referral conversations with role-play and tailored feedback applied to past sales calls

And yet, those results were not our most genuine achievements…

In turn all this work set the scene for a massive shift from within: Neil could finally realise his true value was in moving away from day-to-day implementation and leaning more into strategic advisory. That identity shift quickly showed up in how Neil operated day to day.

He started to feel comfortable in networking settings. He stopped aiming for perfect sales or referral calls and started being in leadership, connecting with kindness, empathy and, most important, intentionality.
